What it means to be Community Crew

The short version: there’s no job you have to do. Loving Maine is enough.

You’re the Crew

Community Crew is the name every Keep Maine Beautiful volunteer shares. It isn’t a task or a title you have to earn — it’s simply the people who love this place and choose to show up. Showing up is the contribution. That’s the whole of it.

If you’d like to pitch in

Some Crew take on something specific — photos, stories, events, social media, a hand at the table. Others simply fold it into everyday life: leaving a place a little better than they found it, redeeming a bottle when they pass one, keeping a caring eye on the spots they love. That’s the quiet heart of it — keeping Maine beautiful isn’t a once-a-year event, it’s how we live here. All of it is optional, and nothing is fixed: what you do, or whether you do anything at all, can grow or change anytime. Just tell us.

Being recognized — your choice

As we grow, we may celebrate the people who make it real. Whether you ever appear anywhere public is entirely your choice, and you can change it anytime. Some love to be seen; others help just as gladly from the background. Both are welcome here.

What you can expect from us

Clarity about what your role is, and isn’t. Credit for your work, and a real say in it. Respect for your time and your privacy. Support — you won’t be left guessing. And something to carry with you: the time you give here is real experience, yours to claim, and we’re glad to say so on the record.

Everyone counts

The more of us who show up behind this belief, the stronger the mission becomes — and the more we accomplish together. When you join, you put yourself, your town, and your county on the map. There’s nothing to buy and nothing you have to do — just an open invitation to stand with us, for the love of Maine.
